Thurs. April 24th: Shut Down the School of Assassins

When: Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 6:30pm

Where: 1003 Park Blvd., Massapequa Park
(1 block north from the LIRR station)

The School of the Americas (renamed “Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation”) is a military school in Ft. Benning, Ga. where, using US taxpayers dollars, soldiers from Latin American countries are trained in “counterinsurgency”. Results of this training are visible throughout Latin America, where graduates of the SOA have been some of the worst violators of human rights, including bloody dictators, from Argentina and Chile, to Central America and the Caribbean.

From April 23 to 25 the School of The Americas Watch (SOAW) will be lobbying at Washington, D.C. and there will be nationwide mobilizations to demand that Representatives in Congress support HR1707 to close and investigate the SOA.

Long Island SOA Watch and other organizations have been asking for years for Representative Peter King to support such legislation. Rep. King is the only congressman from Long Island that votes to keep the SOA open.
Join us in a demonstration in front of Rep. Peter King’s office, to ask him to co-sponsor and support HR1707.
When: Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 6.30pm.
