PeaceSmiths History: Organizations we nurtured

Posted by PeaceSmiths, Inc. interim Coordinator, Kimberly Wilder:

PeaceSmiths, Susan Blake, and the other PeaceSmithies have done so much over the years. As we deal with the loss of Susan Blake, sort out the archives, and re-evaluate our mission and focus, thought it would be useful to reflect on what we used to be and might head towards again?

From the archives comes an index card listing “PeaceSmiths, Inc. (PeaceSmiths House)” activities [posted on the “about” page.] Also, there is a diagram of what PeaceSmiths is, pictured below. The last line (cut off from my humble scanner) says, “They are:”, so that the arrow points to the top.

With these two documents, the list of activities and organizations incubated, nurtured and/or housed by PeaceSmithies is: LIGALY (That’s Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth, a still thriving organization); LI Treatment Resistance; SEADS (PeaceSmiths Energy Project); LISN; Mike Stamm Peace Fund; LI Friends of Clearwater; Nassau WILPF; United Students; LI Citizens in Action, LISEC; Topical A-Typical Coffeehouse; Massapequa Youth Council; Forum; Disarmament Group.
