There is still time to sign up through the Clearwater Festival itself to become a volunteer. You have to put in a lot of hours. Though, being a Clearwater Volunteer is such satisfying work, comes with lots of special rewards, and makes you part of a unique and thriving activist community.

Here is the news from a PeaceSmiths flier. Though, if you are thinking of going or volunteering, make sure you stop by the Clearwater web-site for directions and stuff…

The Clearwater Hudson River Revival 2008
Music & Environmental Festival
Village of Croton-on-Hudson,
Westchester County

Saturday, June 21st and
Sunday June 22nd
from 10am to dusk

Performers include: The Kennedys; Sarah Underhill; The Raging Grannies;
R. Carlos Nakai (Native Flute); Skatalites; Gandolf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams; David Amram; Pete Seeger; The Felice Brothers; Magpie.

And many more, in fact, 5 stages of performers such as: singers, songwriters, storytellers, bands. In the styles of Ska, Bluegrass, Reggae, Swing, Cajon, Latin, and more. Also, an activist section, and crafts and vendors that environmentalists will appreciate.

Including, Pete Seeger’s newest vision: a tent called the “Circle of Gospel” where the audience will sing with and learn from gospel groups in an interactive songfest.

PeaceSmiths will have a table. Please visit…or, would love it if people could stop by and take a 2 hour shift or so. If you want to come to Clearwater for some good music and sense of community, regular price at the gate is $45. for one day and $60. for the weekend. Reduced price for members.

Or…consider becoming a volunteer for the festival. Volunteers who commit to work at the festival receive a free pass for both days, free camping, a t-shirt, 7 meals, and 2 special parties. The volunteers are asked to chip in some funds, or get someone to cover it for them. More information about volunteering is at the web-site, or contact or (845) 454-7673. The deadline to send in a volunteer donation and application is June 3rd by mail or June 10th by fax or online.
