The day after Thanksgiving: Black Friday peace demo

November 26, 2008 at 10:36 pm Leave a comment

We are thankful for Suffolk Peace Network. We are thankful that there are still folks in this world willing to stand up for the ideals of peace and non-violence.

On the day after Thanksgiving, PeaceSmiths has traditionally leafleted at a toy store explaining why parents should not buy war toys. While we still feel this is an important issue, we were not able to pull off a specific demonstration. However, the Suffolk Peace Network is going right to the heart of the matter: Stop the Wars!

So, please consider joining the Suffolk Peace Network at Smith Haven Mall. In addition to Anti-War signs, you might also bring signs or fliers about an end to war toys and militarism. See link to War Resister’s League below. They have great info and downloadable lit about war toys.

**** ACTION ALERT ****

The war in Iraq rages on, the war in Afghanistan rages on AND the U.S. continues to send missiles over the border into Pakistan—these missiles usually wind up killing innocent civilians attending funerals or weddings or they just rain down on villages!!

Smith Haven Mall…Main Entrance on Rte 25 in Lake Grove.

Please join the Suffolk Peace Network as we once again take a stand against this nation’s foreign policy. On this first day after Thanksgiving as shoppers go to the mall to start their Holiday shopping let’s be a reminder to them that people are still being killed in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as the United States continues its pro-war policies.

There is a link to a downloadable flier about war toys from the War Resisters League: here.
