PeaceSmiths Forum: Friday, January 16th at 8pm

Update: The program was great! We ended up with two different teams of artists (it was a long and productive night!)

“How-To End the Wars and Create a Non-violent Society”
A participatory event with a response team of activist artists.

On Friday, January 16th, at 8pm, PeaceSmiths, Inc, will hold a community forum titled: “How-To End the Wars and Create a Non-violent Society.” This is a participatory event. The public is invited to come and share their two minutes worth of ideas, solutions, or artwork on the topic. The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Amityville on 25 Broadway/rt110 (Southmost end near Merrick Rd/Montauk hwy). There is a $6 suggested donation, “less if necessary, more if possible.”

If you give your 2 cents worth, we will give it back to you. Please bring your own, 2 minute presentation, newspaper clipping, poem, treatise, or plan on how to end the wars and create a non-violent society. You will be taped by Public Access Producer Robert Summerville.  Your presentation will be responded to by a panel of activist artists including poet Steven Schmidt and musician Sonny Meadows. Daniel Levin has volunteered as the Artist Liaison. Update: DVD’s of this performance will be available at the next PeaceSmiths Coffeehouse. Look for highlights on youtube.

If you are camera shy, come anyway to support and discuss. We hope to walk away with some real solutions.

PeaceSmiths, Inc. was founded in 1972. PeaceSmiths is involved in community organizing for peace and justice. We do projects related to education, activism, culture and mutual help. We are a non-profit, membership organization.
