A poet’s first poem!

February 12, 2010 at 8:18 am 4 comments

PeaceSmiths is honored to have been the incubator for someone’s first-ever poem. We hold an Open Mic at every coffeehouse, and we also try to have other ways to open the door to participation and creativity. Daniel Levin, one of our long-time members and volunteers, took his poem to the stage for the first time at this month’s coffeehouse. This is the first poem he ever wrote. A world premiere, and a world debut!

Performed in the “Bring-Your-Own-Poetry” set at PeaceSmiths Topical, A-Typical, Music, Poetry and Whatever Coffeehouse. February 5, 2010. Daniel Levin performs his poem, “Confessions of a CIA Analyst”. PeaceSmiths is a nonprofit organization that organizes for peace, justice and the environment.

I am keeping this poem to use in backing up the statement I am often making–Everybody has the capability of writing a good poem. This is a truly excellent example.
